Sydney blacked out

“Central Sydney was plunged into chaos due to a massive peak-hour power outage that forced the closure of major road links, blacked out traffic lights and left hundreds of buildings in darkness.

As well as the CBD, lights were out out in parts of North Bondi, Rose Bay, Darlinghurst, Paddington, Surry Hills and Centennial Park and two performances, Travesties and The Alchemist, were cancelled at the Sydney Opera House because of the blackout.

Fire fighters were inundated with calls about automatic fire alarms and people trapped in elevators around the city, while the complete closure of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel and the Eastern Distributor created traffic gridlock in some areas.

I guess its a big extension of “earth hour” :P

who watches the watchers

No, this isn’t an article about Watchmen, although I watched it on friday night, very long movie..

“Australian Securities and Investment Corporation documents show Ms Liu’s Australian company, Australia China Investments, is half-owned by Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, one of the four major financial arms of the Chinese Government.

She has been photographed with former Chinese premier Li Peng in Sydney in 2002.

It has also been revealed that defence officials may have alerted the Government to security concerns over Mr Fitzgibbon’s relationship with Ms Liu.

The Prime Minister’s office is refusing to reveal whether defence personnel told government staff there were security concerns over the relationship. “

And

“Mr Fitzgibbon has rented a Canberra house from Ms Liu at a market rate and she paid for his visit to China in 2002 and 2005 - trips he initially did not declare on the parliamentary register of MPs’ pecuniary interests.”

It seems the party are getting into trouble again and our “watches” are there to point out this fact. Its extremely worring that our Minister for Defence has been marked as a security risk by our defence organisations?!

GhostNet – Computer Spy Network discovered

“Canadian researchers have uncovered a vast electronic spying operation that infiltrated computers and stole documents from government and private offices around the world, including those of the Dalai Lama, The New York Times reported on Saturday.”

I’ve always know that botnets are out there, but this is getting a bit scary.  What ever happened to corporate secuity, especially in a government office!

What the hell is happening to the weather here!

It’s 33 degrees today in the middle of autumn.
There has been two earth quakes in the last month!

Hopefully it cools down soon, I’m hoping for a good ski-season!

I did a training session yesterday, it went quite well. Was scheulded for 60 minites, took 90 with questions, so I guess thats a good sign! I feel like i’ve nearly lost my voice from speaking though.

Anyway, this weekend, looking at ropes and shoes for climbing, some new joggers and maybe a haircut if the hairdressers is open, but i dunno about that. Maybe i’ll grow myhair a bit longer. I’m too lazy to maintain it though.

Otherwise, I’m ready to Wii lots this weekend ^_^
